Person
A Palestinian political leader (d. 2004); an entry in the source index, not a religious authority.
What it means
Yasser Arafat led the Palestine Liberation Organization and later the Palestinian Authority. He is a political figure, and what he said carries no religious authority. Islamic teaching on honesty is clear: the Prophet said that the signs of a hypocrite are three, including that when he speaks he lies (Sahih al-Bukhari).
