حزقيل
Ḥizqīl
Prophet
A prophet of Israel; some commentators link the Quran’s story of the thousands who left their homes and were revived (2:243) with his vision.
What it means
“Have you not considered those who left their homes, thousands, fearing death? God said to them ‘die’, then He gave them life” (2:243). Commentators such as al-Tabari relate it to the vision of the dry bones of Ezekiel, and say that Ezekiel prayed over them. The Quran does not name him here.
