The Quran condemns hoarding gold and silver (9:34), and the Prophet forbade eating from vessels of gold or silver and gold ornaments for men.
What it means
“Those who hoard gold and silver and do not spend it in God’s way, give them tidings of a painful punishment” (9:34). The Prophet said that whoever drinks from vessels of gold and silver is gulping the fire of Hell into his belly (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim). He forbade gold and silk for men, and allowed them for women (Abu Dawud). The Quran describes Pharaoh’s boast: “why have no gold bracelets been given to him?” (43:53).
