Hud

هود

Hūd

Prophet

The prophet sent to the people of ʿĀd (7:65–72, 11:50–60), who rejected him.

What it means

Hud told his people to worship God alone, and said he asked no reward for it (11:50–51). They called him foolish and said that their gods had afflicted him (11:53–54). He answered: “I put my trust in God, my Lord and your Lord; there is no creature but He holds it by its forelock” (11:56). A violent wind destroyed them (69:6–8). Chapter 11 is named after him.
