اللهم رب هذه الدعوة التامة والصلاة القائمة آت محمدا الوسيلة والفضيلة وابعثه مقاما محمودا الذي وعدته
Allāhumma rabba hādhihi l-daʿwati l-tāmma wa-l-ṣalāti l-qāʾima, āti Muḥammadan al-wasīlata wa-l-faḍīla wa-bʿathhu maqāman maḥmūdan alladhī waʿadtah
The supplication said after hearing a complete adhan, asking God to grant Muhammad (peace be upon him) the highest station and the place of praise He promised.
What it means
After the call to prayer is finished, the listener asks God, Lord of this perfect call and of the prayer about to be established, to grant Muhammad (peace be upon him) the wasīla and the faḍīla, and to raise him to the praised station that God promised. The promise is in the Quran: “Perhaps your Lord will raise you to a praised station” (17:79). The supplication is said after hearing a complete adhān, and it joins the believer’s love for the Prophet to the call to prayer.
What the sources say
Sahih al-Bukhari reports from Jabir that whoever says these words after hearing the call will be granted the Prophet’s intercession on the Day of Resurrection.
