The Muslim rites for the dead: washing, shrouding, a funeral prayer, and prompt burial in a simple grave.

What it means

The body is washed, wrapped in plain white cloth, prayed over by the community in a prayer without bowing or prostration, and buried quickly, facing the Kaaba. The Prophet said “hasten with the funeral” (Sahih al-Bukhari), and discouraged mourning beyond three days, other than for a widow (four months and ten days). The Quran’s story of the raven that showed Cain how to bury his brother (5:31) is the earliest mention of burial.
