عمرة
ʿumra
The lesser pilgrimage, which can be made at any time of year.
What it means
The rites are ihram, tawaf of the Kaaba, sa‘i between Safa and Marwa and shaving or trimming the hair. Unlike Hajj it is not tied to a date, and is highly recommended; the Prophet said that one umrah to the next expiates what is between (Sahih al-Bukhari).
