The Quran commands keeping covenants and treaties, and tells of the covenant God took from the prophets and the Children of Israel.
What it means
“O you who believe, fulfil your covenants” (5:1). “Fulfil the covenant of God when you have made a covenant, and do not break oaths after confirming them” (16:91). “Fulfil the covenant; the covenant will be asked about” (17:34). God took a covenant from the prophets (3:81) and from the Children of Israel (2:83, 5:12). Treaties with unbelievers are to be kept to their term (9:4).
