The reasoned defence of a faith, which the Quran itself commands: to argue “in the best manner” (16:125).
What it means
The Quran tells the Prophet: “Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good counsel, and argue with them in the way that is best” (16:125). It also tells Muslims to “bring your proof, if you are truthful” (2:111). Muslim writers have defended and explained their faith in this spirit since the first centuries.
