The Quran teaches that good and evil befall people as trials by God’s permission, and that a person is responsible for his own wrong.
What it means
“Whatever good befalls you is from God, and whatever evil befalls you is from yourself” (4:79). “We test you with evil and with good as a trial” (21:35). The Quran also says “repel evil with what is better” (41:34, 13:22) and describes the reward of the patient (28:54).
