The Biblical seer whom some commentators identify with the man described in Quran 7:175–176.
What it means
The Quran speaks of a man to whom God gave His signs but who “detached himself from them”, and whose likeness is “that of the dog” (7:175–176). Some early commentators say this was Bal’am, the seer of Numbers 22–24 who was hired to curse Israel. The Quran does not name him.
