The Quran refers to living things as signs of God, including that life began in water and that plants come in pairs.
What it means
“We made from water every living thing” (21:30); “God created every moving creature from water” (24:45). “He made of every fruit two kinds” (13:3). Muslims see these as invitations to reflect on creation. Medieval Muslim scientists, including al-Jahiz in zoology and Ibn al-Baytar in botany, carried out detailed study of animals and plants.
