The Prophet’s sayings describe the child in the womb as written down by an angel, and the Quran affirms that God shapes it.
What it means
A hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari says that an angel is put in charge of each womb, and asks God if the drop will be male or female, and of the provision and term. The Quran says God forms people “in the wombs as He wills” (3:6).
