The Quran forbids gambling with intoxicants and idols as “an abomination of Satan’s work” (5:90).

What it means

“They ask you about intoxicants and gambling. Say: in them is great sin and some benefit for people, but their sin is greater than their benefit” (2:219). “Satan only wishes to cause enmity and hatred between you through intoxicants and gambling, and to turn you from the remembrance of God” (5:91). The Prophet said that whoever says to his friend “come, let me gamble with you” should give charity (Sahih al-Bukhari), as expiation for the invitation.
