The Quran’s story of David’s defeat of Goliath, in the kingship of Talut (Saul).
What it means
The Israelites asked their prophet for a king, and he told them “God has sent Talut as a king” (2:247). When Talut tested the army at a river, only a few obeyed (2:249). Those who did said: “How many a small company has overcome a large by God’s leave” (2:249). “David killed Goliath, and God gave him kingship and wisdom” (2:251).
