The Quran mentions the manna and quails God gave the Israelites in the wilderness, and their asking for herbs and onions instead (2:57, 2:61).
What it means
“We shaded you with clouds and sent down to you manna and quails: eat of the good things We have provided you” (2:57). They then said: “Moses, we cannot endure one kind of food; ask your Lord to bring forth for us of what the earth grows: its herbs, cucumbers, garlic, lentils and onions” (2:61).
