Ḥaqq

“The Truth” and “the right”: one of God’s names, and the word for a due.

What it means

Al-Ḥaqq is among the names of God (22:6, 24:25). The Quran says: “the truth has come and falsehood has vanished; falsehood is bound to vanish” (17:81). Ḥaqq also means a right or due: the rights of God, of people, of the wife and of the neighbour. A hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari lists rights that the body, the eyes and the family have upon a person.
