الحمد لله الذي كساني

al-Ḥamdu li-llāhi alladhī kasānī

“Praise be to Allah who clothed me”: said each time one puts on one’s clothes.

What it means

The Muslim thanks God each time he or she dresses. The words recognise clothing as a gift from God: “O children of Adam, We have sent down to you clothing to cover your nakedness, and as adornment” (7:26). A longer wording of the phrase is reported in the hadith collections of Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, in which the person adds that the clothing came without any power or strength of his own. Saying it connects an ordinary action to gratitude and to the modesty that clothing serves.

Term and Arabic as listed in Ismail al Faruqi, Toward Islamic English (International Institute of Islamic Thought, 1995), p. 61, listed as AL ḤAMDU LILLAH ALLADHĪ KASĀNĪ.. The definition is restated here.
