بكة

Bakka

Topic

A name in Psalm 84:6; the Quran uses a similar name, Bakka, for Mecca (3:96).

What it means

“The first house established for mankind was that at Bakka, blessed and a guidance for all the worlds” (3:96). Some Muslim writers connect it with the “valley of Baca” in Psalm 84:6. Scholars, Muslim and other, differ, and nothing in Islamic belief depends on it. Muslims say Bakka is an old name of Mecca, or the site of the Kaaba within it.
