إلياس
Ilyās
Prophet
Elijah, a prophet of Israel who the Quran says called his people from Baal to God.
What it means
The Quran lists Elijah among the righteous (6:85) and tells of his call: “Do you invoke Baal and forsake the best of creators?” (37:123–126). He is praised: “peace upon Elijah” (37:130). A later passage speaks of “Ilyasin”, which some read as the same name.
