Envy, the wish that another lose what God has given him, is forbidden and condemned in the Quran (4:32, 113:5).

What it means

“Do not covet what God has bestowed on some of you over others” (4:32). Chapter 113 asks refuge “from the evil of an envier when he envies”. The Prophet said: “Do not envy one another, and do not hate one another” (Sahih al-Bukhari). He allowed envy only in a figure of speech, for two people: one who is given wealth and spends it rightly, and one who is given wisdom and teaches it (Sahih al-Bukhari).
