The Quran condemns miserliness and hoarding, and promises success to those saved from the greed of their own souls.

What it means

“Those who are stingy with what God has given them of His bounty should not think it good for them; it will be a burden on their necks on the Day of Resurrection” (3:180). Of those who hoard gold and silver and do not spend it in God’s way, the Quran promises a painful punishment (9:34). “Whoever is saved from the greed of his own soul, those are the successful” (59:9).
