جماعة

jamāʿa

A group or congregation, and the name of several Muslim movements.

What it means

The word means community, and the Prophet taught that “the hand of God is with the congregation” (al-Tirmidhi), and prayer in congregation is worth twenty-seven times prayer alone (Sahih al-Bukhari). Jamaat-e-Islami is a political and religious movement founded by Abul A‘la Maududi in 1941.
