The Quran allows defence against attack and tells believers to take precautions, within the limits of justice.
What it means
“Whoever defends himself after being wronged, there is no blame on him” (42:41), though “forgiving is better” (42:43). Permission to fight was given to “those who are fought, because they were wronged” (22:39). Believers are told to “take your precautions” (4:71) against danger.
