اللهم اني أعوذ بك من الهم والحزن ومن العجز والكسل ومن الجبن والبخل ومن غلبة الدين وقهر الرجال

Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika mina l-hammi wa-l-ḥazan, mina l-ʿajzi wa-l-kasal, mina l-jubni wa-l-bukhl, min ghalabati l-dayni wa qahri l-rijāl

A prayer for refuge in God from cares, weakness, laziness, cowardice, miserliness, heavy debt and the tyranny of men; said in trouble or grave concern.

What it means

The prayer seeks God’s refuge from burdens of the heart and failings of conduct: hamm, anxiety about what lies ahead, and ḥazan, grief over what is past; ʿajz, inability, and kasal, laziness; jubn, cowardice, and bukhl, miserliness; the weight of debt and the domination of other people. Sahih al-Bukhari reports from Anas that the Prophet often prayed in these words. A Muslim says it when facing trouble or grave concern, and it asks for the strength to act as well as for relief.
