The date palm is named often in the Quran and was the food Mary was told to eat in labour (19:25).
What it means
Date palms are among God’s signs for growth (36:34, 50:10, 55:11). Mary, in labour, is told “shake the trunk of the palm toward you, it will drop fresh ripe dates upon you” (19:25). The Prophet used to break his fast with fresh dates, or dry ones if there were none (Abu Dawud).
