Son of Jacob, whose story, told in surah 12, the Quran calls “the best of stories”.
What it means
Surah 12 tells of his dream, the jealousy of his brothers, the well, slavery in Egypt, the false accusation, prison and rise to authority, and the reunion. It shows his patience, his chastity, and his forgiveness: “No blame on you today; may God forgive you” (12:92). Jacob’s answer to his grief is “beautiful patience” (12:18, 12:83).
