The land of Joseph and of Moses, whose stories the Quran tells at length.
What it means
Joseph rose in Egypt from a slave to a minister (12:21, 12:54–56), and later Moses faced Pharaoh there. The Quran names nine signs given to Moses (17:101), among them the flood, locusts, lice, frogs and blood (7:133), and tells of the sea parting (26:63). Pharaoh’s pursuit ends with his drowning, and God says “today We will save your body, that you may be a sign for those after you” (10:92).
